Objective This study aims to use image analysis technology as an aid for disease diagnosis. An automated diagnostic system for disease diagnosis would speed up sample processing time and would allow for more efficient use of the time of a pathologist. An initial starting point would be to examine the detection of early breast cancer from a histological perspective. This would serve as a model which could be developed for application in other areas. There is also potential for image analysis technology to act as an aid in teaching diagnostics.
