Objective
There is a long-standing need for Biofungicides that will allow the control of fungal spoilage problems that cannot be effectively treated using existing fungicides, and especially for the treatment of the edible parts of vegetables and fruits that cannot be safely treated with current products. In addition new Biofungicides are required to control strains resistant to existing pesticides, and that are more specific in action and more readily biodegraded, creating safety and environmental benefits, as well as economic benefits such as employment and an improved competitiveness of EU industries and agriculture. In order to meet these needs Zylepsis has discovered phenymentanoid materials with good antifungal activities and Prophyta wishes to explore the potential of these as plant protection against a range of plant pathogenic fungi in a complementary Partnership. So as to validate this approach and to attract other partners, Zylepsis and Prophyta request the resources firstly to make and test and initial range of antifungal materials against a range of plant pathogenic strains, and secondly to convince other companies with complmentary expertise and interests to join us as additional partners.
