Material from gene banks will be checked by in vitro testing for inbred lines or populations of rye showing resistances to powdery mildew, leafrust and stemrust. The resistant genotypes will be crossed with susceptible plants to procduce segregating F2-populations. These populations and some breeding populations with combined resistances will be analyzed with DNA-markers to identify the genes controlling resistances. The results will be made available in the Internet. Offsprings of original resistant genotypes will be stored in the Rye Genetic Stock Center. Breeding material developed in the project will be available only for the SMEs engaged.
