Objective
The aim is to replace the use of fossil fuel currently used to produce hot gases and electricity for industrial processing with a combination of Refuse Derived Fuel and waste fossil fuel to reduce operating costs of plant.
To install 2 gasifiers for RDF/coal mixtures and a boiler for 1.8 MWe generation. The process heat will be used also in a curing process for smokeless coal briquettes production and replace the existing fuel oil consumption of 1000 l/h. The gasifier will use coal dust and refuse derived fuels. The gasifier is an innovative close coupled three stage unit with high combustion temperature zone followed by gas cleaning equipment. The fuel demand is 3.2 t/h, gasifier effect 10.5 MWth. The gasifier is supplied by a US company.
Results so far obtained by independent engineering consultants are that the emissions will comply with all latest European and American standards even when used to dispose of tyres and waste oils.
The installation of a revolutionary gasifier system monitored by computer allowing the gasification process to be kept under complete control providing an efficient and safe burn for a range of fuels including waste tyres, etc. the system will produce considerable savings to the owners and at the same time provide an environmentally acceptable means for disposal of MSW derived from the adjacent town and district. Most of the ash will be used for constructional purposes.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
