REALIZATION OF A HEAT NETWORK WITH A HEATING PLANT CONSUMING WOOD WASTE

Objective

In a small town of EURE department, Conches-en-Ouche, realisation of a heat network covering at 90% the needs of buildings (flats), a swimming-pool and a school.
The heating plant will burn humid wood waste produced by different sawmills in a range of 20 km around Conches.

Heat network connected to a new heating burning sawmill's waste at Conches-en-Ouche (EURE). This network will feed 6 buildings (dwelling buildings, school, swimming-pool, gymnasium) which consume 324 TOE per year. A wood-boiler will produce 90% of needed energy, involving 60% savings on energy and 32% on (energy + maintenance) cost.
Presently, in Haute-Normandie region, wood boilers only feed one installation: hospital, school and currently wood-transforming plants.
This project will permit to demonstrate, locally, the interest of connecting several buildings on a same heat network in order to install a bigger boiler and to substitute a larger quantity of fossil fuel.
The following aspects will be examined during the testing phase :
- Real cost in term of personal time of control and maintenance because of specialized operators ;
- Management of a large quantity of wood wastes delivered by several factories;
- Contribution of remote control system for the operation of the heatingplant and the sub-stations without a permanent operator presence, and the optimization of fossil fuel substitution.
The building and realization phases extend on 15 months and the following heating season is used for measurement phase.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
