Objective
The purpose of the intended proposal is heparin neutralization by selective remz Continuous Haemofiltration. Haemofiltration is a medical practice whose frequency increasing, which involves long treatment times (up to several days) and repeated adr of large amounts of heparin (500 2,000 IU per substitution liter, 30,000 IU daily). The proposed device will consist in a newly, purposely designed de haparinising filte absorbing most of the heparin before the blood re enters the patient's body, and c exerting this activity during the iong time required for the treatment. Thus, any prol over or hypo dosage of heparin, and risks due to haemorragic patients etc. will be overcome. The starting know how includes: fast and effective grafting procedures for preparing and removing materials based on poly (amido amines); knowledge of the high hepar efficiency of the same polymers once inserted in devices initially studied for HaemodiE is a different procedure than Haemofiltration); knowledge of the high compz sterilisablilty of the same materials.
