Optical shape measurements connected to computer assisted manaufacturing of insoles in orthopaedics

Objective

For orthopaedic purposes, for prosthesis or the making of artificial limbs, a reliable inspection of p; the human body by non contact optical methods combined with an improved automated manufactu] different measures that supports the human skeleton becomes increasingly essential. Beginning feasibility study and some fundamental work in CAD / CNC assisted manufacturing, the proposers exploratory award will work out:_ the fundamental conditions for a dynamic, real time investigation on shape and deformation 4 while walking by means of optical fringe pattern projection or laser scanning devices; correlation of optically determined 3D data set with CAD systems which yields finally a possible w automated manufacturing; a market research exercise that examines the economic success and some possible disseminatio exploitation channels. F inally, the proposers intend to achieve more information about the use of optical methods in orthopC Based on these results, a cooperative research project in the area of the Biomedicine and I Programme will be applied. Additionally, other SMEs, developers of optical devices, more crafts business in orthopaedics and a rehabilitation centre will be included. A market exercise will stu expectable size of the market and will propose some possible dissemination and exploitation channels. Altogether, the research tasks fit mainly to the area 2: Research on Biomedical Technology and Engine in the Biomedicine and Health Research Programme and, herein, to the research tasks 2.2 and 2.4.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
