Cochrane Cancer Network Library in Europe

Objective

Objectives:
? To prepare and disseminate systematic reviews of cancer care throughout Europe.
? To Prepare and disseminate synopses of all systematic reviews, prepared by consumer groups.
? To prepare and disseminate regionally based expert commentaries on the implication for practice of the systematic reviews.
? To prepare and disseminate a database of items of value to all members of the cancer community (patient to super-specialist).
? To produce and disseminate these in the form of a Cancer Library (Internet/CD RO2vI).

Brief Description:
The Cochrane Cancer Network is facilitating the development of Collaborative Review Groups (CRG) to systematically review trials of health care interventions in cancer. These groups will identify as many controlled and randomised clinical trials as possible by hand and electronic searching of the literature. They will use the detailed methods and software developed by the Cochrane Collaboration to carry out systematic reviews. Each CRG will aim to produce 10 new reviews a year and will keep all reviews up-to-date. A register of reports of controlled and randomised trials in cancer together with the systematic reviewers will be made available on the Cancer Library (CD ROM/Internet). BACUP will prepare synopses of these reviews, these will be written by consumers for inclusion on the Cancer Library. All such synopses will be agreed with the original reviewers. The EORTC will use members of its sitespecific working groups to prepare, for the Cancer Library, expert reports on the implications for practice of all systematic reviewers. These will initially be prepared in two separate geographical areas, by experts from that region. To begin with these will be North and South Europe. The Cochrane Collaboration is using questionnaires and focus groups to identify additional topics of interest to different members of the cancer community. Such information will often be in the public domain and the Cochrane Cancer Network will negotiate to make these available through the Cancer Library. Ideally, these would be available through hypertext links using the internet.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
