An investigation into methods of texturing high Tc superconductors for high Jc applications

Objective

To increase transport critical current density in high temperature superconductors through three-grain alignment methods.
Even through magnetic and mechanical techniques achieved texture alignments, high current density could not be produced. Only melt textured growth succeeded in developing transport critical current density. The application could be used for films and disks.
Three methods of grain textured alignments were developed, including magnetic, mechanical, and melt textured growth procedures.

The first technique involves producing bulk quantities of material by melt textured growth. The second uses hot deformation to give textural grain alignment. The third approach allows texturing by magnetically aligning ceramic powder which is dispersed in liquid and then sintered.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
