Exploitable results
Thin films have been developed for wear protection in cutting tools (HSS or cemented carbide) for machining steel and hardened alloys, monel, inconel and other such materials. The films are also used for high speed machining over usual cutting conditions, as well as for interrupted cutting. Examples of aviation and automotive industry applications show the increase in efficiency and the lifetime of cutting tools coated with CARBORID. These coatings are highly temperature resistant.
