COMPARISON OF SURFACE MODIFICATIONS BY ION IMPLANTATION AND COLD PLASMA ASSISTED TREATMENTS AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO OTHER COATING TECHNIQUES

CORDIS provides links to public deliverables and publications of HORIZON projects.

Links to deliverables and publications from FP7 projects, as well as links to some specific result types such as dataset and software, are dynamically retrieved from OpenAIRE .

Exploitable results

Three alloys TAlVa, TAlFe and SS316L, were used as base materials and 3 methods of treatment were compared: glow discharge ion implantation without mass separation; sputter deposited coatings of carbon (C) doped; plasma diffusion and physical deposition process (PVD and PACVD). The development of the most appropriate surface modification techniques at an industrial scale, depending on the prostheses biomechanical and economical requirements have been targeted.
