Virtual organisation of the textile and clothing supply chain for cooperative innovation quality and environment management

Objective

Manufacturing of textiles and clothes as well as related
products is always a multistep production process.
European markets ask for products that are innovative, of
high quality and functionality, healthy and
environmentally friendly processed. These properties must
be jointly guaranteed by a number of legally independent
companies that co operate in the textile / clothing
supply chain. To meet the customer needs and to reduce
time to market as well as product development costs
significantly a new management approach must be
established between companies of the sector that is
called a "Virtual Organisation". By use of sophisticated
information and communication technology, new software
tools, adapted testing and measuring methods and
appropriate Knowledge on Demand Systems provided by
leading research centres, the concurrent engineering
approach for textiles and clothes as customised and
functional products will be introduced. At the same time
a business process re engineering of traditional
processes in this sector will be established. This is a
key element for the improvement of its competence against
non European suppliers. Four typical textile chains
building a European network of companies, processing high
quality products and materials and representing major
textile regions form the core group of the consortium.
They will investigate this future oriented approach in
different product / market sectors and in a complementary
way in cooperation with research centres and suppliers of
information and communication technology. The proposal
encourages a multidisciplinary approach and provides
multisectoral application of the results by integrating
new human, business and organisational structures in a
intra enterprise and inter enterprise network.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
