Models for operational reliability, integrity and availability of ship machinery systems

Objective

Objectives and content
MOSys aims to enhance the operational efficiency and
profitability of ship plant systems through reliability,
availability, maintainability (RAM) and cost analysis at
ship design stage and implementation of Technical Asset
Integrity Management (TAIM) technology during the rest of
the ship life-cycle. In particular it seeks to harness
the power of information technology in handling the
lifecycle data, which is an essential requirement for
achieving the above objectives.
MOSys will achieve the above by developing and applying
analysis techniques for:
RAM and maintenance cost analysis, based on use of ship
machinery historical data, Failure Mode and Effect
Analysis, criticality and risk analysis. This is
primarily targeted at ship design phase.
Survey, Inspection and Repair (SIR) planning, for
harmonisation of the logistic support for ship survey,
inspection and repair in support of operational
availability.
Technical asset management with asset's design,
functional, and operational data capture and data
analysis capability in support of RAM, SIR, cost
analysis, and the life cycle tracking of the asset's
conditions. This is targeted at ship operation phase.
The above analysis modules will be supported by
development of a common product data model for ship
machinery systems, its application in the form of a
comprehensive data repository and its standardisation
within the ISO STEP framework.
MOSys comprises 7 technical workpackages, which is
defined in terms of work content, deliverables, partners
responsible and schedule. The length of the project is
30 months. The MOSys consortium comprises 8 partners
including 2 shipyards, 1 ship operator, 2 classification
societies and 3 R & D institutes, in all from 4 European
countries from south to north Europe.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
