Objective
Objectives and content
Rubber processing still today is more an art than a
science. Especially rubber rheology brings up many
questions, which make it hard to analyse processes and to
determine processing problems. In this project the
rheology of rubber compounds will be deeply analysed.
Remarkable is that the change of rheological properties
will be traced along the production of tires (silica
treads as well as carbon black compounds) and technical
rubber goods. This work will be the basis for a better
die calculation with fem and for modelling the screws of
rubber extruders. Also the impact of different recipe
components (especially silica compounds) on the process
behaviour will be shown. The outcome of the project will
be improved die calculation software (especially for
silica compounds), screw calculation software for rubber
compounds, better recipe and process understanding.
Investigated areas of this study are tires (silica and
carbon black recipes) and technical rubber goods.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
