Objective
Self-piercing riveting is of increased interest and can accommodate differentmaterials, coatings, and when combined with structural adhesives may produce new joining design solutions. This demonstration programme seeks to promote the increased use of self piercing and hybrid joining (adhesive and rivet) by European SME's supplying the mass production industries. The programme will address application barriers such as insufficient technology awareness, performance data and design/use guidelines. Development work will include; improvements to self-piercing riveting and tooling systems for thin gauge material and automated applications; process monitoring and control techniques, and a comprehensive programme of joint property and performance testing. The programme will conclude with the specification and commissioning of a demonstrator which will be used by the partners after the project to develop prototypes for potential new products and systems.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
