Objective
The project aim is to develop a simplified, low price, medium power range permanent magnets synchronous motor and controller. This motor will be electronically driven (brushless). No sensor will be used to detect the rotor position (sensor-less). The simplified electronic controller will be based on fuzzy logic. Power range: 1 to 10 KW By suppressing the rotor position sensors, the proposed technology reduces the total number of components and the cost, increases the reliability, reduces the total weight, improves the maintainability. The first industrial objective concerns an airborne application for air blowers used in cabin air conditioning and avionics ventilation. The second application concerns high depth automatic micro submarines and robots. The sensorless technology allows synchronous permanent magnets motors to be used to obtain precise speed control for propellers. This solution dramatically increases efficiency and cruising range.
