Objective
A new process, method and equipment for plastic waste utilization has been developed by the prime proposer. This innovative method opens up new possibilities to solve plastic waste problem. First industrial tests and applications concern road asphalt material in which the plastic waste has been used in order to improve technical properties of road asphalt. The targets of the intended cooperative research project are both to support the road asphalt application and research technical and chemical possibilities of widening the new method utilization into new areas. The targeted new areas are high grade bitumens and the use of plastic waste as a fuel additive which significantly decreases environmentally harmful flue gas emissions, especially the sulphur emission.
