Objective
The objective of this project is to develop a technique to shape Melamine resin into special integrated products. Melamine is a thermosetting plastic with superb properties, such as practically incombustible (M-1; F-1), high scratch resistance and easy to clean (closed surface). Until yet a limitation is the processability retaining the unique properties. For this reason Melamine products are only available as a flat sheet material (press technique). To shape the material in complex forms a moulding technique has to be developed, so that the products can be used for sanitary and facade applications without after treatment.
