Sensor development for high temperature component integrated-life-monitoring system

Objective

The development of an integrated system for life consumption monitoring of critical high-temperature components would provide a major potential worldwide market for European SME sensor manufacturers. The overall aim of the work is to enable SME sensor manufacturers to exploit this market through the collaborative development of a generic integrated life-consumption-monitoring sensor system of this type. The specific technical objectives are as follows: Firstly, to develop, as required. and validate each of the underlying sensor technologies. Secondly, to combine them into an integrated standard system. Thirdly, to validate and demonstrate the system in the field. The system will be applicable to high temperature components in a range of industrial sectors including power generation, petrochemical and process plant. steelmaking, paper/pulp production and other manufacturing industry. The work is expected to lead to considerably increased sales in world markets for the participating SME's.
