Objective
A feasibility study concerning the production of wood-plastic composites utilising recycled wood fibers and recycled polymer waste granulates. Wood-plastic composites can be produced using: a. either extrusion technology or co-extrusion technology b. mouldpress technology The economic purpose is to obtain a raw material - as a composite of plastic and woodfibers - which has greatly increased strength and less shrinkage or expansion than pure plastic products. Besides the raw material is considerably cheaper than virgin material. The technical objectives are to develop: a. a process technology for the production of an optimal homogeneous mixture of wood and plastic residuals; b. a screw geometry which enables to press the melt material through a die to form sheet products; c. a mould press technology for the production of three dimensional mould products. The industrial objective is to design wood-plastic products with high added value at low processing costs fitting in the desired and use-requirements/qualities. * Low maintenance * water resistant * increased strength * lower shrinkage 1/5th of plastic building materials * woodlike and marble like colours * thermal isolation properties
