InTEGRATED FEED CONTROL OF SPREADING AND CUTTING TABLES FOR THE DISTORTION-FREE MECHANICAL TRANSPORT (FEED) OF GARMENTS WITH RESPECT TO PATTERN AND TEXTURE

Objective

The mechanical transport of large area flexible goods is usually provided by roller systems. In many industrial examples the mechanical systems acts as a feed, i.e. pushing instead of pulling. During garment manufacture the textile good is spread using full-width rollers driven at a given speed, which inevitably leads to distortions. Manual correction, time-consuming and inhibiting an automated process, and/or a low product quality can be estimated as affecting the manufacturing costs by approximately 20 %. Modem machine technology, e.g. segmented and individually driven rollers might principally correct for the occurance of this effect, but lack an appropriate input of geometry-sensitive sensor systems for indication. On this background it is the objective of the proposed program to evaluate a control circuit for mechanical drive systems by taking up recent developments of fast and rather affordable sensor systems for the evaluation of the texture of textile and other flexible goods with the aim to supply the missing link of a powerful control circuit. The problem shall evaluated in the frame of the proposed project for the example of spreading tables, which form an important part of garment manufacture, but the results of the pre-competitive development shall be universally applicable to other types of machinery.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
