StUDY OF THE NOVEL ENERGY SAVING PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF INDUSTRIAL PRESSURE VESSELS

Objective

Current industrial pressure vessel manufacturing technology uses large quantities of steel involves an extra internal heating/cooling structure and results in a very heavy final product. The study will aim to increase process safety: reduce process material costs by up to 50 %: reduce energy consumed by up to 50 %: indirectly reduce the pollution and waste by up to 50 %: and reduce the cost of industrial pressure vessels by up to 30 %. The RTD goals to meet these aims are: reduce the thickness of steel used in the outer skin: Strengthen the outer skin by using an embossed structure: eliminate the use of an extra internal heating/cooling structure; utilise the new outer skin structure to enable healing or cooling in the vessel; generate a computer programme that predicts the pressure characteristics of industrial pressure vessels manufactured in this novel way. It is intended to do this by the study of a novel process for the manufacture of industrial pressure vessels, in an energy saving way.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
