ThE DEVELOPMENT OF AN ADVANCED SMALL SCALE MANURE TREATMENT SYSTEM

Objective

The excess of manure is increasingly posing serious economical, ecological and social problems in several parts of Europe. The intended treatment is especially useful for small and medium scale applications. The treatment concerns the controlled Comporting of the solids containing fraction of the manure in a special reactor. The liquid fraction is denitrified and, if desired, evaporated in a special ambient temperature evaporator. As a result, 1 m3 of manure is transformed into less than 100 1 of a non ammonia and smell emitting compost with a certain fertilizing value. The energy consumption is low. The project involves the development of the proper (prototype) machineries for each treatment step and an automatic control system. The machineries should be effective, simple to operate, low-cost and farmer proof. The machineries will be tested under practical conditions at a farm house; this testing includes also the optimization of each treatment step. Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
