Objective
The aim of the project is to prepare new composite materials by incorporation of biocidal compounds into inert metal oxide matrices using recently developed sol-gel techniques. The biocidal properties of composite coatings arid bulk products prepared in this way will be investigated by studying the controlled release of biocides from the metal oxide matrix. The project results will form the basis requirement for the targeted industrial development of ecologically safe biocidal products with long term benefits to be used for the protection of wood and plants in Europe. The applied exploratory award will be used for the preparation of a research feasibility study, to integrate more international partners and to elaborate the detailed RTD workprogramme.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
