Development of a flexible ESD, electro static discharge, module for production areas in electronic production plants

Objective

Today there are no industrial methods to create new safe ESD-Electro Statical Discharge- areas in existing production systems without major construction work. The existing methods are based on using large numbers of separate tools and equipment not offering an integrated ESD solution. This is a problem for the electronics industry facing a need for rapid changes in their production resulting from fast development and the short life cycle times of their products This research project shall provide the european industry with a flexible, integrated ESD-safe cell, a ESD module that easily can be adapted to the changing applications and needs of modern electronic production/assembly plants. The FSD-Module shall incorporate all necessary parts e.g floor, wall segments, ceiling, coating integrated into one antistatic modular system. The research project shall also develop the measuring system necessary to arrive at the requested ESD characteristics and measure the ESD characteristics after changes have been made in production. The ESD-Module will reduce the costs for faulty products and for costly changes in the production due to ESD. The system to be developed in this project will enable old production facilities to be used for modern electronics production. This will be of importance for the less developed regions trying to attract modern industry.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
