Objective
Rapid product development technologies are changing at a fast pace. SME's manufacturing models, prototypes and tools, need acces to know-how of new technologies. The aim of the project DERP is to help MIKRON LTD, Kurz Modellbau and other European SME's to develop an intelligent decision support tool which will enable them to offer cost-effective solutions and gain competitive advantage for their product development activities and thus become competent problem solvers instead producers of parts. The decision support tool will evaluate technical and economic aspects of different product development technologies and provide specific data relating to the implementation of selected solutions. The exploratory award will enable MIKRON and Kutz Modellbau to seek appropriate R & D partners with specialised knowledge in the area of rapid prototyping technologies and information technology, also, to seek other European SME's with similar / complementary interest in the services propided by DERP and to carry out a feasibility study relating to the development, range of applications and market potential of new rapid prototyping technologies.
