Industrial development of a new polyurethane foam expansion process replacing fugitive organic compounds

Objective



The main goal of this project is to create new non polluant possibilities in the process of expansion of polyurethane foam by the replacement of fugitive organic compounds such as methylene chloride . The aim of the research project is to develop and test the industrial application of an existing concept for a new process, to adapt and measure precisely the important environmental added value . It is the upgrading and adaptation of existing technologies in order to comply with new and future regulations concerning the environment and health protection . The study and creation of new process line with creation of new product components should be necessary and the SME proposers - manufacturers of bedding accessories - would be interested to contribute to this project and work with RTDs dedicated to studies and specifications of this new process able to solve the environmental problems and then perform tests of this new line and on selected products . Considering both economical and technological aspects developing such a new process with possible new methodologies and materials is too much complicated and risky without the contribution of major RTDs .
