Design of screw threads in glass containers

Objective

The design of threads in glass containers orginated from designs in metal boltsand screws. Screw threads in metal structures have been modelled and redesignedusing data from finite elements analysis and experimental analysis. The projectaims to apply these same techniques to find optimal designs for screw threadsand produce an interactive software package to aid in the design of screwthreads in glass containers. Use of the design software package will improvethe quality of design and a minimisation of product recalls which can cost the EC tens of millions of ECU's every year.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
