Regeneration of foundry sands bound with clay

Objective

The scientific & technical research must lead to the design, building and testing of a prototype production unit for the regeneration of foundry sands. The process addresses only foundry sands bound with clay (bentonite). The final target is to regenerate more than 50 % ofthe clay and more than 90 % ofthe silica sand. This will reduce substantially the purchase of sand, and the evacuation costs of polluted sand. The process will separate the useful clay by decantation. The waste clay will be separated bs thermal shock, followed by dust removal.
