The suppression and absorption of electromagnetic interference using plastic packages

Objective

Microelectronic circuits are extensively protected in plastic packages at a cost of l.5Bn ECU pa, worldwide. However, such packages need additional Electro-Magnetic Shielding (EMS) to comply with EC and other directives. The project will assess the potential for using a ferrosilicate waste powder in transfer moulded packages to give such protection cheaply and reliably. Optimum powder processing and moulding routes will be defined and the improved moulded packages will be evaluated on typical automotive and computer components.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
