Biocomposites, sustainable products

Objective

Composite materials are largely used in building & utility construction. However during production and processing of these composites serious health problems can arise by employees (e.g. styrene and glass fibres in the polyester processing industry) These thermorigid composites are also difficult to recycle and causes also unhealthy emissions during incineration. On the other hand sustainable product development becomes more important. Within this project these above mentioned aspects are combined. polyester reinforced glass fibres are substitute by a biocomposite composed of a natural oil binder in combination with natural cellulose fibres. The project will result in a prototype of a crash barrier followed by other prototypes, products which substitute other thermorigid composites.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
