Fabrication of string instruments using advanced materials and dynamical analysis

Objective

Starting from a standard developed up from the masters of violin making in the 17th century the European manufacturing of fine bowed instruments is appreciated all over the world. The increased demand of fine instruments at affordable prices due to astronomically priced 'Old master' instruments requires a recondition of traditional processes based on sensitive manual labour and the use of biogene materials. By scientific research the actual modest understanding on violin acoustics and physics will be expanded. Based on the findings design tools will be developed and artificial materials applied where the reduction of costs goes along with conservation or increase of quality. The project is focussed on specific problems and the mutual influence of the components of string instruments Preserving and raising the European standards of violin making, productivity will increase and the basis of industrial manufacturing to cope with the growing market will be established. The general technical goal is an increase and certification of quality and thus increasing the efficiency of the production of the different components of string instruments The economic benefit will be the transfer and application of modern technology to the small and very small enterprises involved

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
