Objective
The research project prime objective is the analysis of a new technology for marble cutting in underground, aimed, not only to a greater productivity, but principally to the reduction of a high percentage of waste which occurs at present with the current excavation technologies. The new technology will break down into two phases: 1. targeted excavation through gallery machinery 2. reclaim of usable parts from blocks normally considered as waste, through the use of a speed cutting machine. Both machines will adopt the insert diamond technology. A further objective is the pollution reduction, given to the total absence of lubrificating substances during the cutting phase.
