Objective
The specific industrial objective of this cooperative research project is to design, develop and demonstrate a novel manufacturing process capable of producing enhanced performance, cementless, orthopaedic prostheses with a novel cored structure. Development of such technology will satisfy the clinical objective of this work which is to provide extended life prostheses, reducing the number of revision surgeries required and thereby reducing the financial and resource demands placed on European health care providers, and also improving the quality of life of the European citizen. These objectives will be achieved through the fulfilment of technical objectives relating to:
