Development of an integrated compact oil burner-boiler unit

Objective

Central heating of small apartment houses, complexes and buildings with oil-burning heating systems is a challenge since smaller units than the existing larger ones are required. The latter have the disadvantage of requiring plenty of space, generate high levels of noise and they operate at levels far from optimum since they operate at lower than their maximum capacity. The proposed project aims at overcoming these problems by investigating and providing solutions for the development of an integrated compact oil-burner-boiler unit, by optimising the size of the boiler tubes, providing for smaller tubes but avoiding scaling problems and achieving low noise and high efficiency combined with the small size. Furthermore RTD efforts will focus on optimisation of the oil-burner system which will be integrated with the boiler to produce the compact unit. Additional research will deal with the integration of the unit with smart and remotely operated electronic controls.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
