Objective
Incineration with energy saving is one of the principal technique used to treat urban wastes. The number of municipal waste incinerators is strongly increasing in the European Union. Therefore the development of the valorization of the by-products generated by these plants is essential. In particular the valorization of the urban wastes slags. On the other hand, the concerns for environmental protection and sustainable development lead to search substitute materials to preserve natural resources. The objective of the project is to find innovative techniques for re-using the municipal solid wastes slags in road construction. Three main utilizations will be analysed:: - in subbase courses for road by treatment with hydraulic binders, - in substitution of a part of natural aggregates in concrete, - to produce artificial aggregates by special treatments. The partnership is composed of industrial companies from various concerned sectors: - collecting and incineration of urban wastes ( MSW slags producers), - slags treatment, - production and sale of hydraulic binders, - road construction and concrete mixing (MSW slags users).
