Objective
The RECONCEIVE proposal (Remote COmputing Network for Concurrent Engineering InitiatiVE) is a two years cooperative CRAFT research proposal project dedicated to SMEs working in the environment of the aircraft manufacturers or / and equipment suppliers. Concurrent Engineering has been pointed out by European Aeronautical Industry as the utmost strategic issue to be implemented soon. The main goal of Aeronautical Concurrent Engineering is to reduce in the order of 30% Aircraft production cost, lead time and customisation time by networking the Aeronautical supply chain as a whole. The supply chain Partners are distributed all over Europe. The project proposal deal with SMEs computing and networking needs. The main objective of the Reconceive project is to implement an adequate Concurrent Engineering platform for SMEs. The project will set up and validated an experimental network based on Internet connecting SMEs and computing centres in order to implement the platform. The platform will include fluid an mechanical software simulation tools, a dedicated user environment, a fast data file exchange software and a collaborative visualisation tool. This Concurrent Engineering platform will be used for three industrial test cases. The first one deal with the collaborative design by three SMEs and one RTD provider of a light plane wing using UNIX hardware environment. The second one concerns the collaborative design by two SMEs and two RTD providers of a motorised paraglider (paramotor) using a front end user PC hardware environment. The third one aims at showing that Aeronautic concurrent engineering tools and platforms can be extended to a wide range of others industrial sectors. This industrial test case concerns the collaborative design by one SME and one RTD provider of a drilling bit tool using a front end user PC hardware environment.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
