Virtual development and testing unit for improving product design processes

Objective

The increasing mechanisation of tree harvesting and the international decreasing prices require the use of very modern harvesting equipment.A typical working unit for a cut to length logging system is an one grip harvester andforwarder. A major disadvantage with the one grip harvester is its complexity and thus thehigh operator skill required and the one grip harvesters productivity is high influenced bytree size. The objective of this project is to provide a virtual development and testing unit for improving product design processes of one grip harvesters. The main optimizationobjectives for the product design are: improving the ergonomic condition of the operator multi tree usage of heads improvement of heads control development of crane kinematic The implementation of the Virtual Development and Testing Unit will provide a visual harvester simulator as an new product of the three manufacturing partner from three different EU members states.
