Semi-autonomous Monitoring And Robotics Technology

Objetivo

The SMART network addresses the development of human resources for the technologies of monitoring and surveillance, autonomous robotics, and teleoperation. The goal is to create a research infrastructure for efficient mobility of human resources, technology transfer and dissemination of information. As a consequence, the activities of the network are organized on several levels.

In order of increasing visibility, these are:
1. Transfer and integration of technology for monitoring and surveillance, autonomous robotics, and teleoperation.
2. Workshops to present research results and discuss research in progress.
3. Organization of and/or participation at conferences to disseminate research work.

This network will effect the sharing of scientific and technical skills between industrial sectors, between research laboratories and industry, and between regions in Europe, to the benefit of all participants.

Outstanding scientific achievements include:
1. A framework for integrating and controlling reactive behaviours (LIFIA, AUC and DIST).
2. A system for real time detection and tracking of people using principal components analysis (Univ. Leeds).
3. A system for real time tracking and identification of vehicles (Univ. Reading).
A research infrastructure for efficient mobility of human resources, technology transfer and dissemination of information has been set up. The activities of the network are organized on several levels: transfer and integration of technology for monitoring and surveillance, autonomous robotics, and teleoperation; workshops to present research results and discuss research in progress; organization of and/or participation at conferences to disseminate research work. In addition to the exchange of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, the network has organized 3 symposia. Scientific achievements include: a framework for integrating and controlling reactive behaviours; a system for real time detection and tracking of people using principal components analysis; a system for real time tracking and identification of vehicles.
