Objective
THE LONG TERM TECHNOLOGICAL GOAL OF THE NETWORK IS TO ELABORATE THE CAD TOOLS OF THE NEXT CENTURY TO DESIGN NEW MATERIALS AND DEVICES.
THIS ADDITIONAL PROPOSAL IS FITTING TWO COMPLEMENTARY ASPECTS OF THE NETWORK GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
- TO GO DEEPLY INTO BASIC KNOWLEDGES BY STUDYING BASIC PHYSICAL PHENOMENA - TO INVESTIGATE NEW RELEVANT TECHNOLOGIES AND TECHNIQUES AND TO DEVELOP TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESSES CAD TOOLS.
THE TWO PROPOSERS ARE:
1- THE LATVIA UNIVERSITY, DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL PHYSICS OF CONDENSED MATTER, LATVIA THE LATVIAN GROUP WILL STUDY SURFACES PROCESSES: - THE MECHANISMS OF AFM IMAGING
- THE MECHANISMS OF FORMATION OF METAL/INSULATOR INTERFACES
- THE MECHANISMS OF PHOTO-INDUCED ATOM DESORPTION FROM GaP AND GaAs SURFACES 2- THE RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOR ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS (ICCE), ROMANIA THE ICCE WILL: - STUDY THE MECHANISMS OF CHEMICAL ANISOTROPIC ETCHING - DEVELOP A CAD TOOL FOR MICROMACHINING SIMULATION
BOTH OF THESE CONTRIBUTIONS WILL REPRESENT A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN SKILLS FOR THE EXISTING NETWORK AND WILL REINFORCE THE STRENGHT OF THE NETWORK.
