Objective
Two main topics are to be the object of investigation of the Sofia grcup: 1. Dependence of flow, relaxation and physical aging of polymer glass formirlg melts; dependence of thermodynamic and mechanical properties of frozen in systems on condition of vitrification an specially on cooling rate.
Dependence of relaxation on thermal prehistory of samples: relaxation of frozen-in and of equilibrium states.
General theoretical approach, computer simulation and analysis of experimental data obtained from other participants in project.
2. Experimental investigation of thermodynamic properties
(DSC-measurements) of PErl and kinetics of relaxation of PMMA using new technique based on photo acoustic effect.
Comparative measurements protonated and deuterated polymer samples prepared by participants in the project using above techniques, particular emphasis being given on investigation of -relaxation.Computer analysis using Ising type Networks and Monte Carlo simulation of thermodynamic properties of polymer melts and solutions.
Using previous investigation on the thermodynamics of vitrification and solubility of phenolphtalaine, thorough study of its viscous flow and relaxation.
Analysis of results in term of formalism connecting Newtonian and non-Newtonian flow of system with its Maxwellian and non-Maxwellian relaxation.
Computer simulation of flow of polymers.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
