Objective
This proposal describes a concerted action programme on quality assurance in hospitals in 11 CEEC'S that will be realised in conjunction with the simular Biomed project in 14 EU and COST countries.
During an assessment-phase existing QA-activities in hospitals are assessed; during an action phase hospitals are asked to
perform QA studies on 6 topics (record keeping, prophylactic antibiotic use in surgery, pre-operative assessment, prevention of bedsores, bloodtransfusion policy and QA at the emergency department) and during an evaluation-phase the effects are
evaluated. Three separate workshops for CEEC'S will be organized similar for the ones for EU and COST countries on the
implementation of QA in hospitals and financing mechanisms,
accreditation and national legislation.
