Assessment of AIDS/HIV general prevention strategies in Europe : Phase II

Objective

ASSESSEMENT OF AIDS/HIV GENERAL POPULATION PREVENTION STRATEGIES IN EUROPE; EXTENSION TO COUNTRIES OF EASTERN AND CENTRAL EUROPE The aim of the project proposed here is to build on the work so far completed in the EC Concerted Action "Assessment of AIDS/HIV General Population Preventive Strategies". Phase 1 of this CA was concerned with documenting the implementation and evaluation of AIDS public education in EC Member States, candidate countries, and COST countries.
Phase 2 of this project has been concerned with maintaining this activity and, additionally, providing a resource for use by policy makers in East and Central European countries. We now propose to add initiatives from Eastern and Central European countries to this documentation thereby broadening the exchange of experience of designing, implementing and evaluating public education campaigns.
The systematic and comprehensive assessment of AIDS Public Education across Europe will hopefully serve to:
- facilitate the selection and implementation of effective preventive strategies in all European countries
- identify key programmatic factors which may lead to more successful project implementation and sustainability
- contribute to the stock of knowledge on evaluative techniques and procedures
- disseminate examples of models of good practice.
