Acess to high field facilities

Objective

It is proposed to grant access to the high-magnetic field facilities of the Nijmegen High Field Laboratory, and in addition to the pulsed-field facilities in Amsterdam also belonging to the Amsterdam-Nijmegen Magnet Labora- - tory, to a selected number of qualified groups from Central and Eastern Europe. The Nijmegen High Field Magnet Laboratory is one of a few laboratories worldwide capable of providing static magnetic fields over 30 tesla, well above the range of magnetic fields generally available in physics laboratories with superconducting magnet coils.
The associated proposers in this proposal were selected on the basis of their internationally recognized scientific position, of good experience in earlier collaborations, or of the importance of the field of research for which they expressed an interest.
Within this programme scientists from the research teams of the associated proposers will be eligible for magnet time at the Nijmegen High Field Magnet Laboratory: they may submit a short but competitive proposal for a specific research project of investigations in high magnetic fields to the coordinator at the Large Installation. This project proposal will then be reviewed and rated by the local programme committee and the referee-panel, and if accepted the usergroup will be granted access to the installation, free of charge, and their access will be facilitated by providing a local contact and sufficient travelling and subsistence funds. The call for such proposals will be open continuously, and usually magnet time can be allocated within a few months after the request.
With the proposed budget a total of 16 different research projects can be supported over the 24 month duration of the programme to the end of the year 1996; each of these projects will require one or more research visits of up to one month to the Netherlands.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
