Advanced Robot Assembly

Objective

The aim of the project is to develop advanced integrated solutions and techniques for more efficient industrial assembly processes. The project investigates the fundamentals of robotics assembly and parts mating processes. The implementation strategy includes the use of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques and approaches to facilitate robotics assembly and increase robot flexibility and applicability in integrated production systems.

The approach is to:
address a specific assembly problem and propose engineering solutions for efficient assembly concurrently analysing the product design and the assembly process
improve the manufacturability, quality and reliability of the product applying a design for assembly approach
reduce the throughput time of the assembly process using the capabilities of assembly robots and integrating a robot in a production system
investigate the theoretical background of the part mating process and the possibilities for broader use of robots in assembly processes.

INFORMATION DISSEMINATION ACTIVITIES

Workshops will be held to facilitate the dissemination of results and search for other potential industrial partners.
