CIRCULATING FLUIDIZED BED BOILER BURNING A MIXTURE OF MINING WASTES WITH 65 % ASH [DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION]

Objective

The project herein presented refers to the installation of a thermoelectrical group in the Asturian Central Basin, with a rated capacity of 50 MWe, and with an important portion of the electric power consumption of HUNOSA (75 %), which amounted to 391 GWh in 1987.
The group will be equipped with a circulating atmospheric fluidized bed boiler and will make use of a fuel mix of a very heat low grade. Taking advantage of the regulating framework for autogeneration, it will sell its production to the electric power supplier in the area at the price fixed by the official electric tariffs of the Ministry of Industry and Power.
It will comply with the most demanding legal regulations in matters of environmental protection at a worldwide scale. See project CS /108/89/ES.
The operating data foreseen is the following :
Boiler efficiency = 83 %
Net efficiency = 2. 800 kcal/kWhn
Auxiliary consumption = 7,5 %
SO2 emission = 90 % retention
NOx emission = 250 ppm.
The project represents an authentic novelty due to the use of mining reject mixed such as culm "wastes" and wood wastes from the mining exploitations, which fixed with a run-of-mine coal from these exploitations, are susceptible of being used for thermoelectric energy, with the clean and advanced system of fluidized bed combustion. The nominal quality of the fuel mix corresponds to an expected theoretical ash percentage on dry CN = 65 %, which will be adjusted in practice to its costs convenient value during the group's effective research.
The mininum addition of limestone due the small sulphur content of the fuel mix (S<1 %) place this fuel mix under very favorable environmental conditions.
The boiler is developed to obtain a steam production of 185 t/h. , with a thermal power of 147 MWth and an electrical power of 50 MWe.
The performance of a technological codevelopment program for the future marketing of the experience obtained forms part of the Project.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
