SUPPORT TOOLS FOR HOUSING DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT, INTEGRATED WITH TELEMATICS SYSTEMS AND SERVICES

Objective

FACILE aims to define, produce and test support tools for the design and management of living spaces with automated telematics systems and external services for elderly and disabled people. Concentrating primarily on the needs and views of these users and their carers, it will produce an easy-to-use electronic and hard-copy catalogue of Home Environment Systems featuring products currently available in the four countries in the project; and a Design Guide to help design or adapt the home environment, which will include an analysis of user requirements, and standards and regulations in force. They will help design and test Pre-Discharge 'Home units' (PDH), aimed at helping post-rehabilitation disabled and elderly people regain autonomy in their home environment, using pilot sites adapted to three different functional disabilities.
