Objective
THE COMPUTER MODELS DISCUSSED IN THE FOREGOING PROJECT (SEE CONTRACT EE-A5-060) CALCULATE THE HEAT DEMAND (Q) FOR A BUILDING WHICH IS KEPT AT A WELL DEFINED TEMPERATURE TAKING INTO ACCOUNT HEAT TRANSFER AND AIR INFILTRATION LOSSES, GRATUITIOUS ENERGY, WIND, ETC. THE AMOUNT OF HEAT (Q') NEEDED TO SATISFY THIS DEMAND DEPENDS ON THE EFFICIENCY(N) OF THE HEATING INSTALLATION WHICH IN ITS TURN DEPENDS IN A COMPLEX WAY ON THE EFFICIENCIES OF ITS COMPONENTS (BOILER, RADIATORS AND THE CONTROL SYSTEM). NOT MUCH IS KNOWN ABOUT THE RELATION Q' = NQ AND THE AIM OF THIS PROJECT IS TO
- DEVELOP A METHODOLOGY FOR MEASUREMENT OF PERFORMANCE OF INTEGRATED HEATING SYSTEMS;
- DEVELOP GUIDELINES FOR THE DESIGN OF INTEGRATED CONVENTIONAL AND ADVANCED HEATING SYSTEMS;
- OPTIMIZE THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE SYSTEMS
THE EXPERIMENTS ARE BEING PERFORMED IN TWO IDENTICAL HOUSES OF 107 M2, BUILT ACCORDING TO THE DESIGN GUIDELINES DEVELOPED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF LIEGE
ONE HOUSE USED A HIGH EFFICIENCY AND LOW TEMPERATURE BOILER OF 14 KW WITH FLOOR HEATING OR RADIATORS (90 DEGREES C / 70 DEGREES C). THE OTHER HOUSE CONTAINED THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS:
- ELECTRICAL HEATING WITH TERMOSTAT
- ELECTRICAL HEAT PUMP WITH FLOOR HEATING
- ELECTRICAL HEAT PUMP WITH RADIATOR HEATING 60 DEGREE C/ 45 DEGREES C.
