ENERGY RECOVERY AND FLUE GAS CLEANING SYSTEM

Objective

To design, construct and operate a 37 MW district heating plant for production of hot water at 90-120 deg. C using a new energy recovery and flue gas cleaning system. The heating circuit will provide space heating for about 3,000 flats and one-family homes in the town of Viborg. Energy savings of 1,489 t/y of heavy fuel are projected, and payback estimated at 5. 7 to 7. 7 years.
This new system saves about 10% of energy. The reduction in sulfur emissions is 95 - 99%, dust emission is reduced to less than 25 mg /Nm3.
The system is fully automatic and has been developed for 16 hours unmanned operation.
The total cost of the project is DK 15. 750 million.
The plant has been put in operation mid 1985. After a period of satisfactory operation, vibration problems occurred on a pipe of the heat pump system. The problem has been solved by changing the pipe. Corrosion damage was recently discovered in the flue gas heat exchanger: an investigation into the reasons is underway.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
