ENERGY RECOVERY FROM EXHAUST BASES OF A LOW CAPACITY GAS TURBINE IN THE PAPER INDUSTRY

Objective

The aim of the project is to improve the efficiency of a gas-turbine plant.
Completed without technical difficulties. The results of this project have been both financial and energetic savings. The project has also decreased the operating cost and the possibilities to secure the disponibility of generated electric power. The combined cycle cogeneration plant functions perfectly, and all economic and technical targets have been met. Total commercial and technical success.
CLARIANA, who produce 30,000 T/y of paper, presently buys in all necessary electricity and uses low pressure steam generators for the production process. The initial phase of the project is to install a cogenerative gas-turbine rated at 3.75 MW. No support is requested for this step. The principle phase consists of installing a complementary steam-generator/turbine using the gas-turbine exhaust gases, coupled with a waste heat recovery boiler producing 40 bar at 400 deg. C of process steam. This second phase will result in an increase of 1.3 MW and 725 TOE of primary energy.
The benefits of this project will be financial and energy savings resulting in decreased operating costs and a reduced dependency on the external electricity supply.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
